The video game developer/publisher released Tom Clancy's The Division - a new IP - in 2016 after teasing the game for three years. According to The Division creative director Julian Gerighty, making Division 2 instead of adding further expansions to the original Division wasn't as simple as a single discussion. The development of the second game in the series will be handled by Massive again, but with the assistance of Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest.

After initially leaking online thanks to a German trading website, Ubisoft have confirmed that they're working on The Division 2, and more details will be shared at E3 2018.

It's not over for the original game yet, with them announcing that they'll continue to support the first game until September.

The Division 2 will run on the Snowdrop engine.

Starting in June, you'll be able to play Crests in the first game, which will reward you with achievements that allow you to unlock goodies in The Division 2. Hopefully a better single-player experience and improved social features are present in The Division 2.

Ubisoft has today announced that the wildly successful game, The Division will be getting a sequel that is fully unveiled at this year's E3.

We found The Division to be a solid, entertaining experience at launch. "After the celebrations of our two year anniversary, we will support the game with two more title updates".

The Division 2 will be based on an updated version of the Snowdrop Engine that will "help realize" the studio's "ambitions for this title". It goes on to state that Xbox One X enhancements are coming for the first game as well as two new global events as well as legendary difficulty missions. Let's hope it gets released soon, and not after a year or so.
