With six-tenths of a second left, the Magic inbounded the ball at midcourt with a lob into the paint, but the clock started prematurely, and the buzzer sounded as the ball was still in the air, before it touched anyone or anything.

Several Lakers said afterward they had no idea what the rule was or why the game ended the way it did.

With 0.6 seconds left, the Magic were inbounding with a chance to win the game. "They [the NBA] have gotta change that rule, and I think they will".

"I mean, that sucks for the Magic", said Lakers guard Isaiah Thomas, via ESPN.

The Lakers had blown a nine-point lead in the final two minutes, allowing the Magic to go on a 10-0 run to take a 107-106 lead with five seconds left. That seemed like would be the right way to go and it didn't make sense to me that we were jumping it up, but it's over with now and we're onto Sacramento, " Gordon said, referring to Friday's game against the Kings.

"I still don't even know how it ended", Thomas said, echoing a sentiment that was expressed throughout the Lakers' locker room. I have not even discussed it, to be honest with you, with [Magic President of Basketball Operations] Jeff Weltman.

The anger was not so much directed at losing the game. "It helped us get a win, kind of really saved us". Due to an issue with the game clock, it has turned out to be a controversial one, which ended in weird fashion as the referees chose to throw a jumpball with only 0.6 seconds left. But I am just glad we won. His sore knee would have prevented him from playing out the rest of his second 10-day contract, so the Magic made the move.

On Thursday, Evan Fournier disagreed. The 7-foot Lopez somehow didn't get a rebound in 35 minutes of play. Nikola Jokic dominated the game with 36 points, 13 rebounds and six assists while shooting 12 of 14 from the field, Gary Harris added 18 points while Paul Millsap and Mason Plumlee chipped in with 12 points apiece. He appeared to hit the rookie wall in January.

Looking at the betting trends, the Lakers are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games, 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a winning record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Magic routed the Lakers 127-105 at Amway Center, even without Gordon in the lineup.

Wednesday night had quite the controversy in the National Basketball Association.
