Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said the government has made its stance clear in the High Court verdict directing a CBI probe into Shuhaib murder. "In case if there are adverse remarks against the state government then the authorities concerned would take appropriate decision on moving the higher court", he added.

Congress leader and former Minister K.C. Joseph said the reactions of the CPI (M) leadership to the CBI probe order was an indication of their panic.

CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Wednesday said the CPM was not afraid of CBI probe into Shuhaib murder case.

The petitioners contended that only 11 persons were arrested and there was no effective probe to identify those involved in the "conspiracy behind the murder". Speaking to the media here, Kodiyeri said the investigation should be impartial.

The court held the view that the alleged conspiracy angle in the case should be investigated.

The order came in a petition filed by Suhaib's parents, C P Mohammad and S P Razia. Stating that the probe is in the right direction, Pinarayi said those arrested by the police were the real culprits.

The petitioners had also alleged that the police intentionally omitted to invoke the provisions of the Unlawful Activities Prevention (UAPA) Act in the case. No complaint has been obtained from any part against police investigation. "Police under the LDF rule cracked several cases including the sensational Jisha murder case".

No goal of investigation would be served if the case was probed by the local police, which would be "partial, biased, motivated and prejudicial", they had said.

"There is nothing for the CPM to hide in Shuhaib murder case".
