On the occasion of International Women's Day, Indian Railways deployed all women travelling ticket examiner (TTE).
From Thursday, Banaswadi will become the first railway station in South Western Railway Zone to be fully managed by women. CR's divisional railway manager SK Jain said, "Apart from this, all women crew will run the Mumbai Pune Deccan Queen on March 8".
SCR chief public relations officer M Umashankar Kumar said that as part of the exercise, the women staff will be deployed to handle all day-to-day activities, including train operations, ticketing, security and other duties.
He also stated that today, SCR Zone has got women working in nearly all spheres of operations night and day and it is a big achievement that Chandragiri (Guntakal division), Begumpet (Secunderabad division) and Phirangipuram (Guntur division) Railway Stations on SCR have become all women employee stations, provision of exclusive rest rooms and exclusive running rooms. Motorman Surekha Yadav piloted the train while the guard was Shweta Ghone.
The Matunga Station of the Central Railway has become the first station to be operated by women staff completely which also got its name registered in the Limca Book of Records.
The staffers will include 13 commercial clerks, 3 ticket checking staff, 11 operating staff (Station Master and Points person) and 4 Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel. It has been learned that female employees working in Tirupati, Renigunta and Chittoor stations have been transferred to Chandragiri station for this goal.
