School administrators became aware Tuesday morning that a student might have a gun, police said, and the boy fled campus and ran into the woods after being confronted by an assistant principal.

The Candler County Sheriff's Office arrested a Metter Middle School student Tuesday for making threats to harm other students.

The arrest follows two in Bulloch County last week.

Police say they arrested the girl on Monday after receiving numerous tips.

The school operated normally Tuesday, officials said, as police conducted their investigation.

Bethlehem Area School District Superintendent Joseph Roy said parents were notified of an incident at 7:30 a.m., before classes began. We'll update with information as it comes to us.

"We started receiving social media posts of a man holding an assault-style rifle threatening to come to Tyrone Middle School and do violence", explains St. Pete Police spokesperson Sandra Bentil.

The shelter-in-place and lockout at Jarvis Middle School has ended.

Jarvis will dismiss at its normal time. She was charged with terroristic threats and acts and disrupting a public school.
