The Parliament could see disruptions on diamond businessman Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi allegedly defrauding the Punjab National Bank (PNB) and other banks of Rs. 22,000 crore. This season followed the Tripura and Nagaland win.

When the House reassembled after the first adjournment, Naidu was able to persuade members to return to their seats for a shortwhile.

He, however, said he can not accept the notice under Rule 267 given on the issue by Leader of the Opposition and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, party's deputy leader Anand Sharma, Pramod Tiwari, D Raja (CPI), Sukhendu Sekhar Roy (TMC) and others.

Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu's repeated requests to put the house in order failed.

Samajwadi Party on Wednesday selected its leader Jaya Bachchan as its Rajya Sabha candidate from Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming elections to the Upper House. "Parliament is not conducting itself in a dignified manner", he quipped before adjourning the House till 2 pm.

The Rajya Sabha was on Tuesday adjourned for the day amid sloganeering by opposition and TDP members minutes after it met at 3.30 p.m after multiple adjournments during the day.

The Houses of Parliament meets after a month-long recess in the session.

TDP has been demanding "special category status" for Andhra Pradesh while Congress and All India Trinamool Congress raised slogans over the banking scams.

Issuing a notice to the Abhishek Singhvi's wife from Income Tax Department was an obvious case of political grudge. "We will also demand answers from Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the scam happened right under his watch". Bharatiya Janata Party MP Vinay Sahasrabuddhe issued a notice to discuss the allegations of corruption against relatives of former ministers.

Referring to fugitive billionaire jeweller Nirav Modi, the Congress president took a dig at PM Modi over his silence on the issue, saying, "Ek Nirav Modi hai, Dusra Modi Nirav hai (One is Nirav Modi and the other Modi is quiet)".

Outside Parliament, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal responded to the Opposition's offensive over the Punjab National Bank case, saying the scam "started during the time of the Congress".

The government, on the other hand, will be presenting the Finance Bill and the Appropriation Bill. The Triple Talaq Bill, which seeks jail term for Muslim men practising instant divorce, is another contentious issue.
