Martin said earlier this week Porter would not have any minutes restriction when he returned, given the one-and-done nature of the postseason. "The great thing about him was he said, 'Coach, I want to help the team'".

Porter Jr. has not played since having surgery on his back in Novemeber after re-injuring his back during the first game of the season against Iowa State.

ESPN's Paul Finebaum reported shortly before his 3 p.m. hour that Michael Porter Jr. will play Thursday in the SEC Tournament.

Porter had a microdiscectomy on his L3 and L4 discs in November 2017.

Porter will not start, and the number of minutes he will play has not yet been determined, Martin said. "That's doctors. Trainers. Unless Mike says otherwise".

Michael Porter Jr. made the decision to play yesterday, per Cuonzo Martin.

Considered a lottery pick in this year's NBA Draft if he declares, Porter's presence suddenly makes a good Missouri team (20-11, 10-8 in the SEC) even more of a threat, says Kentucky coach John Calipari. "Coach, I'm ready to go", Porter told Martin.

Porter and the rest of the Mizzou basketball team face either Vanderbilt or Georgia on Thursday in its first game of the SEC tournament.
