One user reportedly tried to turn the lights off in their home but Alexa repeatedly turned the lights back on, eventually uttering an 'evil laugh, ' according to BuzzFeed. One Reddit user said that Alexa laughed after the command, "Alexa, patio off", which could sound vaguely like, "Alexa, how do you laugh?"

Alexa's spontaneous laughter has been occurring for at least a couple of weeks, as the Twitter user @CaptHandlebar shared a short video of the device's automated chuckle on February 22.

The company's confirmation follows reports from some Alexa users claiming their speaker has let out a random laugh.

Amazon Echo users say the device's personal voice assistant, Alexa, has been randomly laughing and it's sort of terrifying, multiple media outlets report. Freaked @SnootyJuicer and I out.

"I thought a kid was laughing behind me", he said. Alexa laughs on its own without being prompted to wake up. Multiple people have confirmed that their Echos have "gone rogue" with fits of laughter as if they somehow had their amusing bone tickled.

It's not clear when Amazon will fix the issue behind the laughter.

Voice assistants like Alexa are created to respond or act only when prompted with a wake word, which in this case is "Alexa" or "Amazon".

It's also not unheard of to have people talk to users through their Echo devices.

Streaming Deezer on Alexa will come with a handful of features beyond simply asking Alexa to "play music on Deezer".
