The 27-year-old detailed his admiration and praise for his worldwide compatriot in the lead-up to the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Chelsea playmaker won the award in 2015 when the Blues won the Premier League and was pipped to the crown last season by teammate N'Golo Kante. He defends, crosses the ball, assists and scores goals in big games. "Him and Kevin De Bruyne are playing different positions so it depends what you want".

"He's clever on and off the pitch".

The 27-year-old is at the peak of his career and despite the fact that Chelsea are underwhelming in their defence of the Premier League title and could struggle to qualify for the Champions League, it is easy to see why Hazard is tempted to move to the Santiago Bernabeu. "For me personally, it's hard to play well if you only get the ball three times".

"He doesn't score a lot of goals but he can create something with just one movement or pass. It's simple, he's a special player", said Hazard.

Liverpool: Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes his in-form striker Mohamed Salah should be considered for player-of-the-year honours in English football after taking his goal-tally for the season to 32 by scoring in a 2-0 win over Newcastle.

It would be a rare personal double for De Bruyne if he was to scoop the annual award, having also picked up the Footballer of the Year award in Germany in 2015 while playing for Wolfsburg. "So when they put Hazard up front on his own, I was a wee bit disappointed because I didn't know if that was a good idea and it clearly wasn't working at all" said Pat.

"I wouldn't have got a touch even if we played for three hours, even if we improved in the last 10 or 15 minutes", the Belgium global said after the match. If they speak about you positively it is always nice'.
