Bhubaneswar: BJD leaders on Saturday ridiculed BJP president Amit Shah's statement and claimed that the saffron party's "dream" of forming the government Odisha will never be fulfilled even though it has won in Tripura and other north eastern states. "Italy mein chunao bhi toh hai (Italy is holding elections too)", he mocked at Rahul at the press conference.

"My Nani is 93".

Rahul Gandhi, who took the baton of Congress party from his mother Sonia in December 2017, declared on Twitter on Thursday that he was off to Italy to visit his 93-year-old grandmother. She's the kindest soul ever.

"There is a social media message, which I also liked". I can't wait to give her a hug.

He said the BJP secured almost half of the total vote share in Tripura, Nagaland, and Meghalaya, which shows that voters are increasingly in favour of the saffron party.

Fadnavis said the BJP is now in power in 21 states covering 78 per cent of geographical area of the country, and will repeat its historical win in the 2019 general elections as well.

On the otherhand, the BJP has ended a two-decade run of the Manik Sarkar government in Tripura and is heading for a comfortable victory in the state assembly elections. The BJP president said that the victory in Tripura was also important because it was mandate against the politics of violence initiated by the Left parties in Tripura. The State BJP's south Mumbai headquarters wore a festive look with workers bursting crackers and distributing candies. The pan-India footprint of BJP is growing and it will continue to grow under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Amit Shah ruled out the possibility of the BJP, whose NDA partner National People's Party has won 19 seats, engaging in horse-trading in Meghalaya.

"The BJP has not only won the elections but secured 49 to 50 per cent votes in (the three) northeast states. The Congress does not have a majority there", he said.
