Kevin Durant spent his rookie season in Seattle, before the SuperSonics moved to Oklahoma City and became the Thunder.

Although Seattle is still waiting for an National Basketball Association team to return to the city, Key Arena will at least host a preseason contest next season.

The two teams will meet on October 6, and it will be the first National Basketball Association game in the KeyArena since the Supersonics moved to Oklahoma City after the 2007-08 season and became the Thunder. Because the rebuild is scheduled to begin in October, the preseason game would potentially have to be played at a different location in Seattle.

"That would be unbelievable, Durant said following practice Wednesday evening".

According to Ailene Voisin of the Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors have agreed to a preseason game next season in Seattle's KeyArena.

The Warriors star said: "That Seattle Sonics culture was deep".

"I don't even look at the standings", the reigning Defensive Player of the Year Green was quoted as saying. "Walking around Seattle, they were always passionate about being Sonics fans".

The Kings, on the other hand, were reportedly quite close to moving to Seattle themselves and becoming a new iteration of the Sonics. Moves like this will bring attention to the city and encourage more moves to bring more professional sports to the Pacific Northwest.
