A KFC spokesperson said: 'We deliver fresh chicken to our restaurants, but we're having a few hiccups with our delivery system at the moment.

Branches across the United Kingdom in cities like Bristol, Berkshire, Cheshire, Surrey, Suffolk and Newcastle have been affected by new delivery partner DHL after it had a "few hiccups" while supplying chicken.

The fried chicken restaurant, in The Lanes Shopping Centre, was closed yesterday and didn't open at 11am this morning as it usually would have.

KFC said while some restaurants have shut their doors, others are operating a limited menu or shortened working hours.

"We want to thank our incredible restaurant teams, who are working flat out all hours to get us back up and running again".

Chicken fans across the United Kingdom will be disappointed after a new distribution system has been causing problems for many outlets and forcing some to close.

Another said: "As if kfc is closed coz they've run out of chicken". Fried chicken fans were left disappointed after DHL suffered "operational issues" in chicken supply.

A third added: "KFC in both Cheshire Oakes and Chester Greyhound Park are closed because. they're out of chicken".

The news comes as KFC announced it had been forced to close a raft of stores after a new delivery contract with DHL resulted in chicken shortages across the country.

It's not the first time that a chain has been in hot water over deliveries.
