Some GOP lawmakers also are upset over a Justice Department decision not to charge Hillary Clinton for using a private email server while she served as USA secretary of state from 2009 to 2013.

"My princess wasn't safe in that school", said Andrew Pollack, at the funeral of his 18-year-old daughter Meadow. "If you looked around this closet and saw everyone just hiding together, you would know that this shouldn't be happening anymore, and that it doesn't deserve to happen to anyone, and that no amount of money should make it more easily accessible to get guns".

But as details about Cruz have emerged, so have indications that signs were missed in the months leading up to Wednesday's rampage. Cruz jumped out of an Uber auto and walked toward building 12 of the school, carrying a black duffel bag and a black backpack.

I-Team Chief investigative reporter Cheryl Fiandaca obtained five reports filed by the Broward County Sheriffs dating back to 2013. He radioed a co-worker and within a minute heard gunshots.

It has also come out that the local police department also received several tips about Cruz and his potentially risky behavior.

The teenager killed 15 people inside the school, two outside, and injured 14 more.

As time passes, new information comes to light about Cruz's life before he opened fire with an assault rifle to gun down students at his former high school, from which he was expelled for disciplinary reasons.

Across the internet, students who were caught in the crossfire at the school spoke out.

Cruz was ordered held without bond at his first court hearing on Thursday.

Carly Novell, a senior at the school who survived the shooting, said it was time for politicians to act. Nine involved no injuries at all.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said "a person close to" Cruz called the agency's public tip line on January 5 and left information on Cruz's "gun ownership, desire to kill people, erratic behaviour, and disturbing social media posts, as well as the potential of him conducting a school shooting".

The FBI apologized on Friday for failing to act on a tip they received about Cruz in January.

We have determined that these protocols were not followed for the information received by the PAL on January 5.

The information should have been passed on to the Miami field office for further investigation, but no action was taken.

Florida Gov. Rick Scott has called for the resignation of FBI Director Christopher Wray for failing to investigate the claims.

The second-deadliest shooting at a public school in US history also raised concerns about potential failures in school security and stirred the ongoing US debate about gun rights, which are protected by the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.

"We truly regret any additional pain this has caused", Lasky said.
