There will be much style but little substance to emerge from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's first state visit to India, according to global trade expert Vivek Dehejia.

Officials said Trudeau's his visit to Gujarat will be first by a Canadian prime minister.

The issue of revival of Sikh radicalism in Canada and presence of supporters of Khalistan movement in Trudeau cabinet have cast a shadow on Indo-Canadian partnership, the growing economic partnership including rising investments in India notwithstanding. He tweeted Friday that his visit would "focus on creating good jobs and strengthening the deep connection between the people of our two countries". He will visit the Golden Temple in Amritsar, Jama Masjid and Cricket stadium in New Delhi. The family posed with folded hands for the cameras with the signature Indian greeting - Namaste.

Trudeau should address this challenge head on and point out the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in late December 2014 referred to what happened to the Sikhs in November 1984 as "Genocide". The focus will be on trade, investment, energy, science, innovation, skill development, space, and infrastructure development. Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan will meet him in the country.

"We have nothing planned with him at this time", said one Canadian official, speaking anonymously because they weren't authorized to discuss details of the trip publicly.

Trade between India and China has more than doubled to $8.4 billion in the last decade.

The ties between India and Canada have been on an upswing.

Our Prime Minister has made a complete mockery of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and even people who are pro-abortion proponents find his stance absolute wrong and totally unpalatable. He will also attend an event with members of the Indian film industry.

Trudeau, who will be accompanied by his wife and three children, is schedule to visit Taj Mahal on February 18, and next day he will travel to Ahmedabad where he will visit Sabarmati Ashram.
