An 18-year-old Talladega High School student is under arrest after police say he brought a gun to school Thursday morning.

A student was apprehended at a Maryland high school following a lockdown on Thursday afternoon.

The replica gun was a black Co2 BB gun, with 24 CO2 cylinders.

Police were later able to take the student into custody, and they were able to recover a pellet gun.

The Orlando Police Department says that they want to stress the important of "See Something, Say Something". The incident comes a day after 17 people were killed at a South Florida high school by a 19-year-old gunman.

Police have designated an area for parents to pick up their students. The weapon was not used in a threatening manner, school administrators said. The lockdown has since been lifted and police say no injuries were reported.

The student's identity is not yet known.

The student faces felony charges for possessing a firearm in a prohibited space, according to Flower Mound police. "We do not believe the student meant to harm anyone on campus". "Due to their quick response to a suspicious situation, we were able to ensure the safety of our campus", Shafferman said in his statement.
