In the final fourth heat at the Olympic Sliding Center in Pyeongchang, Yun Sung-bin clocked in at 50-point-02 seconds for a cumulative three minutes and 20-point-55 seconds.

"Dom looked like he wasn't as comfortable on the sled as yesterday", Great Britain's 2010 skeleton gold medallist Amy Williams said. "That support really helped push me to win the gold medal".

"He will have to run his four races with same records and do his own race, if so, he can win his gold medal and we are all set".

Nikita Tregubov, who competed as an Olympic Athlete from Russian Federation, was 1.63 seconds off gold, while England's Dom Parsons took bronze.

"I would like to again thank everyone on my team for always encouraging me".

"It is not my effort alone that got me this medal".

Mikaela Shriffin of the United States was unable to defend her women's slalom gold from 2014, unexpectedly taking fourth place in her second event of these games.

"It's a national holiday so I thought not many people would come to support".

"At first, we were a bit confused but now we know the track well and have practised runs nearly perfectly", the coach said.

"I just want to turn my phone off and go to sleep", Yun told reporters after his historic win. Martins is the last person I'd expect to make those kind of mistakes.

Dukurs was second after the third heat with a 0.04-second advantage over Parsons, but he made mistakes in his final run.
