The Pittsburgh Steelers overhauled a portion of their defensive coaching staff Thursday, hiring Karl Dunbar as defensive line coach. His Steelers connections don't stop there. Dunbar has also previously been a defensive line coach for the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills and New York Jets.

"I want to thank Coach (Mike) Tomlin and the entire Steelers organization for this opportunity", said Bradley. He was selected by the Steelers in the eighth round of the 1990 NFL Draft and played three seasons in the league with the New Orleans Saints (1993) and Arizona Cardinals (1994-95).

He has spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator at UCLA but was not retained when Chip Kelly was hired this fall. "This team drafted me out of college". Hopefully I can bring that to the team. A lot of things he did, I do. He spent two years working as a TV football analyst before he became defensive line coach at West Virginia in 2014.

Known as a strong teacher and an inspirational father figure to his players, Dunbar was never as successful as a recruiter after returning to the college ranks in 2016 following a decade in the NFL.

Dunbar, 50, started his coaching career as the defensive line coach for Nichols State in 1998. From there he returned to LSU to serve as the school's strength and conditioning coach from 2000-2001, and then to Oklahoma State where he was the defensive line coach from 2002-03. He was named the Rivals Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2008 and the Associated Press Defensive Coordinator of the Year in 2005.
