It is believed Cleveland are also sending forward Channing Frye and one of their two first-round draft picks to the Lakers for point guard Jordan Clarkson and forward Larry Nance Jr.

But there has been wide speculation that Thomas, the marquee player the Cavs got in return for Kyrie Irving in a blockbuster trade last summer, isn't a good fit for this team.

Fans wanted to see the Cleveland Cavaliers make a trade deadline move to get the team on track. He seemed legitimately upset about the trade at the time, but as the season had progressed, IT had accepted it and for the most part, looked as if he had embraced life on the Cavs and in the shadow of LeBron James. While he doesn't have a polished offensive game, the high-flying, athletic power forward is a solid rebounder and defender who brings energy to the position.

Both Thomas ($6.3 million) and Frye ($7.4 million) are on expiring contracts.

Utah Jazz: Trade Rodney Hood to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Clarkson has registered per-game averages of 14.5 points and 3.3 assists, while Nance has logged in 8.6 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this season.

The key to standing pat has been the development Clarkson and Randle have shown this season. "It's LeBron's ball, and this clearly wasn't working".

To add, while Rose (9.8 points and 1.6 assists per game) and Wade (11.2 points and 3.5 rebounds per game) were solid playmakers in the second unit, Clarkson (14.5 points and 3.3 assists per game) has simply been more productive in a bench role.

With Lonzo Ball still on the mend, a few months in L.A. could help Thomas boost his free agent value and earn a bigger deal in the upcoming summer.

A two-time all-star, Thomas has also proven himself capable of running offenses himself, both when Ball sits and with him on the floor. "So you put your head down, play hard, play for us".

"I'm exhausted of being traded", he said. "And me worrying about it isn't going to change anything or make a difference". The Cavaliers are 31-22, and now sit third in the Eastern Conference.
