Take-Two, which launched "Doomsday Heist" for the online version of its popular game "Grand Theft Auto", said it had a net benefit of $11.9 million from the overhaul of the US tax code.

Take-Two has also revealed that Grand Theft Auto 5 was the No.3 best-selling title in the United States past year based on the number of copies sold.

The latest numbers come courtesy of Take Two's recent investor conference call where it detailed its fortunes for the past fiscal quarter. And to top it off, GTAO exceeded Take Two's expectations during the past fiscal quarter and remains its biggest contributor for recurring consumer spending (microtransactions).

As we discussed on the Press X To Podcast several weeks back, it is no surprise Grand Theft Auto V sales have been fantastic.

To put things in perspective, Grand Theft Auto V has shipped more copies than titles such as Wii Sports (82,830,000 copies sold), Super Mario Bros (40,240,000 copies sold), Pokémon Red & Blue (31,380,000 copies sold) and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (30,000,000 sold). Considering that it was originally released in 2013, these are incredible figures for Rockstar and Take Two, with it continuing to be a staple of the gaming sales charts almost five years following its initial launch. As Mr. Ahmad pointed out, the four year old game managed to outsell most games that launched in 2017, including the controversial Star Wars Battlefront II (7 million units). Also, the publisher confirmed that Rockstar Games is not going to stop in releasing new content for GTA Online, a lot more is a plan and incoming.
