"I asked if they noticed anything different, or if they noticed anything at all that was special about the Gerber baby, and the only thing they said", Gunnes said, fighting back tears, "the only thing my kids noticed about this adorable baby was his bowtie and I think that speaks volumes".

An 18-month-old boy with Down's Syndrome has become the new face of United States baby food giant Gerber.

Baby food company Gerber announced Wednesday the results of its latest photo search.

"Lucas' winning smile and joyful expression won our hearts this year, and we are all thrilled to name him our 2018 Spokesbaby", said Bill Partyka, President and CEO, Gerber.

One-year-old Lucas Warren from Dalton, Georgia, beat out some 140,000 other babies to win this year's title of "Gerber Baby". "This year, Lucas is the flawless fit". "It is such a lovely, good day", wrote samanthajob on Instagram. Thank you for celebrating the diversity of the human condition!

His parents hope that Lucas will help people realize that those with special needs are really no different from other children, and that they don't need to be defined by their disability.

"He's very outgoing and never meets a stranger", Lucas's mom, Cortney, told TODAY Parents.

Hopefully, Lucas's presence on all the Gerber's ads and social networks marketing campaigns will indeed shed some light on the needs the babies with Down Syndrome have and will increase people acceptance. "He's got an awesome personality and he goes through the milestones of every child".
