The 6-foot, 190-pounder committed to the Gators over Alabama and Tennessee live on ESPN2, and his mother clearly wasn't happy.

In the end, Copeland said he had to make the decision for himself, and not for anyone else.

In the video, Copeland's mom seemed to be taken aback after the student athlete chooses the University of Florida's Gators cap instead of hats representing Alabama and Tennessee.

"I don't know why she walked away", Copeland said on ESPN.

When Copeland, ranked twelfth in the nation, picked Florida, his mom gave him the side eye and stormed off.

She got up, grabbed her purse and left the letter of intent signing at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Florida, Sports Illustrated reported. His mom was seen moments after the interview giving him a hug, so apparently dinner won't be too awkward.

Copeland and his mom have since reconciled. I cried and cried all last night about God leading me in the right directions. They got a new coaching staff and I like what they're doing.

Copeland's mother eventually returned and did her part of the signing before leaving again, CBS Sports reported.
