SuRie is to represent the United Kingdom at the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.

Speaking of her song Storm, she said: 'Storm is a smash!

You Decide! saw a jury of music industry professionals and the public combine votes to decide who out of six contestants would go forward to sing at the competition in Lisbon, Portugal.

Following a combined vote, presenters Mel Giedroyc and Måns Zelmerlöw revealed that SuRie had received the highest number of votes of the evening, therefore earning the wanted Eurovision right at the 2018 competition.

Cork has also performed for royalty, singing for the Prince of Wales as a child soloist, while in recent years has provided backing vocals for artists including Chris Martin and Will Young. Look back at every UK Eurovision entrant ever in our gallery below.

The annual contest is fast-approaching and anticipation has been at a peak since the May 2017 final (these Eurovision fans are some of the most loyal, y'know).

The United Kingdom's Eurovision act has been chosen as SuRie. The victor will be selected via the combination of a public televote, consisting of televoting and online voting, and the votes of a professional jury panel.

She appeared as a backing singer for Belgium's Loic Nottet during the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015.

SuRie and her song Storm, written by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis and Sean Hargreaves, will head to Lisbon in May.

The last time the United Kingdom won Eurovision was in 1997 with Love Shine A Light by Katrina and The Waves, which scored 227 points in Dublin.

Graham Norton will return to cover all the Eurovision action on BBC One on May 12 2018 as the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 final airs.
