Narendra Modi on Wednesday launched one of his most vitriolic attacks on the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family, sounding more like a political campaigner than a Prime Minister responding to the Opposition's questions in Parliament in the past year of his term. The initiative of the Narendra Modi Government for simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies is not just welcome but very timely.

Modi, known for his political strategies tried pulling the Congress party into the ongoing row between the Centre and Andhra Pradesh in fulfilling the promises made to Andhra Pradesh in the AP Reorganization Act. "For decades, one party devoted all their energies to serving one family. But they never raised voice when a Hindu boy in similar circumstances is sent to jail for marrying two women", Modi said in his Rajya Sabha speech on Wednesday.

Accusing Congress of stifling democracy and its traditions on many occasions in the country, Prime Minister Modi cited many incidents from the past to pin the opposition leaders on the mat. You divided India. Even after 70 years of Independence, 125 crore people of India continue to suffer because of the poison you sowed.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi speaking minutes after the speech ended, put the PM in the dock for making a "campaign speech, a political speech" instead of answering important questions pertaining to the Rafale fighter aircraft deal, waiving-off farmers' loans, and the crisis of jobs in the country. Why did the Congress dismiss so many state governments at their will?

"The approximate acquisition cost of the Rafale aircraft has already been provided to Parliament.in not revealing the item-wise details of the contract, the government is merely following in letter and spirit the confidentiality provisions of a bilateral India-France agreement of 2008 signed by the previous government", it said.

In his almost one-and-a-half hour speech in Lok Sabha, Mr Modi called NPAs the UPA government's "sin" and gave figures for the "first time", adding that had he spoken earlier, it would have seriously harmed the economy.

"India did not get Democracy due to Pandit Nehru, as Congress wants us to believe". They go back to saying- when we were in power.... "They humiliated him when the moment came to nominate a person for the chair of India's President", Modi said. "'When a big tree falls'.you remember these lines".

We expected the prime minister to speak like a prime minister.

Rahul Gandhi was in the Lok Sabha when PM Modi targeted his party, amid loud slogan-shouting by opposition members and periodic cries of "shame" from the ruling members. "We need a lot of money for poor people's welfare", Modi said.

Renuka Chowdhury not only gave her reaction on Aadhaar issue but also responded to PM Narendra Modi's jibe on her laugh.
