Apple Inc. said it will continue to explore possibly reimbursing customers who bought full-price iPhone batteries, but stopped short of guaranteeing the refund.

iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X models use a more developed hardware and software design that offers a more precise estimation of both power needs and the battery's power ability to boost overall system performance.

Apple's Chief Executive Tim Cook in January, this year has stated that Apple would release a software update to allow users to turn off the feature.

Apple's image has taken a beating of late due to the controversy over its admission that it throttles the performance of its older devices in order to preserve their batteries. The two-week gap between the iOS 11.3 beta 1 and beta 2 gave Apple the chance to address the majority of the problems, and the iOS 11.3 beta 3 update and further releases should just be a series of minor bug fixes and tweaks.

Some legal experts suggested that Apple may have exposed itself to class-action litigation if it could be proven that it acted in bad faith by not informing customers of the true reason behind the issues with their phones. The company also sent a letter in response to Representative Greg Walden, a Republican who chairs the Committee on Energy and Commerce in the US House of Representatives. The possibility was mentioned in Apple's five-page letter to Sen. Apple is also offering customers battery replacement at a discount price globally.

The U.S. Department of Justice and the Securities and Exchange Commission are also investigating whether the company violated securities law in its handling of disclosures about the performance issue, according to a Bloomberg report. "We are seeing strong demand for it", the company said. However, since several users were made to purchase new batteries for the old price of $79, Apple has confirmed that it will issue rebates to all such consumers. Critics, however, claimed that Apple this forced slowdown of older Apple products was to prompt users to upgrade to a newer iPhone model.

"Consumers rely on clear and transparent disclosures from manufacturers to understand why their device may experience performance changes". The company will continue its discussions with the committee, he said. Thune says Apple will follow up with additional information at a future date.
