The shooting for the period drama is now underway in Alsisar, Rajasthan. Well, just like her contemporary Deepika Padukone, Kangy has miffed some Hindu right wing activists group who wants the makers to stop filming the movie as they fear that historical facts are not being depicted accurately in the movie. "We will meet Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh and Rajasthan home minister Gulab Chand Kataria seeking their intervention", Mishra added. The film is being shot at Malsisar town in Jhunjhunu.

Suresh Mishra, Mahasabha's Rajasthan President, said during a press conference, "We learnt about it from our friends and acquaintances in various parts of Rajasthan where some scenes of the film are being shot. The film is based on a foreigner's book and tries to dampen the queen's reputation". Rani Lakshmibai was a freedom fighter and one of the most respected leaders our country has seen. He also mentioned of having sent letters to the producers of the film, regarding the writers, the historians consulted along with the song details of the film.

But the producer Kamal Jain clarified that the film does not portray anything objectionable about Laxmi Bai. The film showcases her in a most respectful manner and is an inspirational story.

We have recently witnessed what proportion of protests "Padmavati", a film made on the life of 11th century queen of the same name had to face from fringe groups, supported by some North Indian state governments.

He has also insisted the government of Rajasthan to seek an affidavit from the film's producers that history has not been distorted.

This controversy over Manikarnika comes soon after Padmaavat emerged successful following a long-drawn battle with the Shri Rajput Karni Sena over alleged distortion of facts - a contention that the movie's producers had been denying since the shooting began.
