Google announced Tuesday it has changed the way people can search for hotels and flights using smartphones in a bid to make trip planning simpler on mobile devices.

Google mentioned that users could now swipe more easily between the flights and hotels with the new tab layout.

When inside of the flight tabs, you'll select your dates for travel, and the same goes for hotels.

The inverse is also available, where users who searched for a hotel can to the Flights tab to check prices and fare options, and book a flight.

Google has decided to make this easier as more and more people are getting into planning and booking for travel purposes via their smartphones, rather than using a computer for the goal. The hotel search is fully customizable as you can choose to filter accommodation based on pricing, list of amenities provided, its proximity to the airport and so on.

Once you click on "More Destinations" in the top left, you will be taken into a new experience that lets you explore several other destinations, weekend getaways and trips that you might just be interested in. We've also included a feature called Your Trips that helps you see, at a glance, all your upcoming and past travel reservations from Gmail.

Filters could also be applied on the results page-like the date and price filter, and booking could also be done through Google.

The Google Flights app also uses machine learning to predict delays of any flight.

It's not any different if you want to learn about a specific place, or when searching for things to do there.

These updates follow last week's update that the company made to Google Flights.

"No matter where you're headed (and if you need ideas, read on), Trips makes it easy to browse and access fun stuff to do on your vacation without breaking the bank", explained Holden in the blog post. Today, in the latest round of new features, Google is aiming to improve hotel lookup and booking, while Google Flights now integrates existing functionality.
