The third-year running back was the AP's top offensive rookie in 2015, then had a mediocre second season.

Brady claimed 40 of the 50 votes from a national panel of media, with the Los Angeles Rams' Todd Gurley garnering eight votes and Philadelphia's Carson Wentz getting two.

"I learned that I need to invest in my body, and invest in the things that are going to make me feel good, or else I would have stopped playing 10 years ago", he said. And Sean McVay was named Coach of the Year after leading the Rams to an 11-5 record and a division title as a 31-year-old rookie head coach.

Another New Orleans rookie took home hardware as well, as cornerback Marshon Lattimore was named defensive rookie of the year.

Rams team-mate Aaron Donald was named defensive player of the year.

Brady's historic season at 40 has been a topic that has followed him all season, which he has embraced by highlighting his commitment to his craft and producing the documentary "Tom vs".

The first year head coach turned around a vastly under-performing Rams team who was dismal on offense. McVay also became the youngest head coach to lead a playoff team in National Football League history.

Both New Orleans rookies earned Pro Bowl nods this season.
