"Our seven-year anniversary is coming up on March 20".

Matheny said he hopes no one else has to face such a trying ordeal.

In her words to the court, Crews said the person she needs to apologize to the most, LaFontaine-Greywind's daughter, was too young to understand what was going on.

The 22-year-old disappeared on August 19 after heading off to visit her next-door neighbour Brooke Lynn Crews for a dress fitting. "Brooke Crews does not deserve to live", said Greywind's sister Kayla. That's all I have to say and that's how I feel. As she grows up, the Greywind family says they will not hide what happened to her mother.

Prosecutors said that Crews and LaFontaine-Greywind argued before Crews pushed her to the ground, knocking her unconscious.

LaFontaine-Greywind agreed to help, but when she got to Crews' apartment Crews provoked an argument by accusing LaFontaine-Greywind of mistreating cats.

William Hoehn and Brooke Crews are charged with killing Savanna Greywind of Fargo, N.D. when she was 8 months pregnant. At some point after, without medical care, Savanna died, the prosecutor said. "I wish I could take their pain", she said. "My heart is broken". A phone message left for Hoehn's attorney seeking comment on Crews' sentencing was not returned Friday.

Later, she showed no emotion as the judge passed sentence.

"Our family is trying to heal, but we find it almost impossible", Greywind wrote.

"We will continue to keep my daughter's legacy alive", said Norberta.

"As a husband and a father, I did everything I could to protect my family ever since I moved to Fargo, but unfortunately I could not protect Savanna from my neighbor, Brooke Crews", the father wrote.

The baby was found alive in their apartment and is now with her father, Ashton Matheny. As Andrews told the court how hard this has been for Matheny, the baby sat quietly, playing with the attorney's hands and looking curiously around the courtroom.

"It was wonderful that Haisley Jo was able to spend those moments along with her family, as well'".

Crews had earlier pleaded guilty to three charges, including conspiracy to commit murder.

Crews didn't have a plea deal with prosecutors, but hoped that admitting responsibility at a December hearing would work in her favor at Friday's sentencing in Fargo. Johnson Martinez said the tattoo was used to identify her body after it was pulled from the river, "sliced from hip to hip, with no baby inside".
