According to a Toyota spokesman, the recall includes the gas and hybrid versions of the RX, and the gas, hybrid, and turbo versions of the NX.

The recall involves 2016 Prius vehicles as well as 2016 Lexus RX vehicles, along with Lexus NX vehicles for model years 2015 and 2016, the company said in a statement.

The recall affects 15 models made between May 2015 and March 2016. All known owners will receive a notification by first-class mail starting in late March. It also covers some Toyota Alphard, Vellfire, Sienta, Noah, Voxy, Esquire, Probox, Succeed, Corolla, Highlander, Levin and Hilux models. Toyota, Lexus, and Scion owners are encouraged to check and see if their vehicle is under this or any other outstanding recalls.

In a press release, Toyota says these vehicles have a fault in the airbag electronics where over time, an open circuit can be created.

This could cause the airbag warning light to illuminate, and the side/curtain airbags and/or front airbags could also be deactivated and will not deploy when required to.

Toyota says its dealers will check the serial numbers of the airbag sensors and replace new ones if needed.
