While there has been no hard evidence that Simon knew Nassar was sexually abusing girls and women, some of the more than 150 women and girls who have accused him said they complained to university employees as far back as the late 1990s.

According to a recent ESPN report, Walton allegedly struck a woman at a bar in 2010. "I apologize for the negative attention this has brought my Spartan family, the Clippers organization and my family and friends". Walton continued his coaching duties while that charge was pending.

ESPN reported that Walton was sacked from the basketball staff that year.

Detroit sports radio host Mike Valenti took the airwaves on Monday to defend Michigan State University athletics after ESPN reported last week that they may be involved in covering up a culture of sexual assault. "My encounters with this woman were more than just one single occasion, and my actions with her were always consensual".

"I was never hired or fired by Michigan State University", Walton said.

After Sunday's game at Maryland, Michigan State coach Tom Izzo was asked why Walton left the program.

Nassar worked at Michigan State from 1997 to 2016 and received his osteopathic medical degree there in 1993, the Indianapolis Star reported. "Upon graduation, I returned to Europe to continue my basketball career".

He is now on administrative leave from his position as an assistant coach with the Agua Caliente Clippers.

Football coach Mark Dantonio responded to the story, saying: "I'm here tonight to say that any accusations of my handling of any complaints of sexual assault individually are completely false".
