Now, EA has confirmed this delay - though they don't want you to call it that.

Sarah E. Needleman, author of the piece in the WSJ sent out this Tweet earlier today: "Electronic Arts says it is now planning to release Anthem, an online multiplayer action game from its BioWare studio, in early 2019 instead of fall 2018 as originally planned. Instead, EA is planning to release a new Battlefield game in October and it determined that Anthem, the new intellectual property, would get more attention if it came out in a quieter quarter". The news broke during EA's Q3 earnings call today. Considering how successful Battlefield 1 was, who can blame them? However, the big publisher denied that this delay was due to development issues. I'm not surprised at Anthem being pushed back, either, and I doubt anyone else is at this point.

"It's not a delay", EA CFO Blake Jorgensen said. "People are trying to create a story", he added despite the company themselves announcing it as a 2018 release.

There is no information on what timeframe this new Battlefront game will take place in, but considering the success of Call of Duty: WWII it would be smart to have it take place during the World War II era and explore avenues that haven't been shown in a video game before.

The game was announced for fall 2018 at E3 2017 and is now being pushed into 2019, that's a delay. Bioware can't risk taking another defeat after the public humiliation that was Mass Effect: Andromeda which more or less put the series on hiatus for the foreseeable future.
