Bruno Mars on Sunday won the Grammy for Record of the Year for his party anthem "24K Magic", the first time the funk revivalist has won the USA industry's award for top song on his own. The Recording Academy, the good folks who hand out the Grammys, changed the rules for Best New Artist a couple of years ago, to better reflect the changes in how music from new artists is developed and promoted.

The Animal Welfare Foundation slammed the stunt, saying the puppies were given out "as if they were nothing more than inanimate objects".

Alessia Cara brings the double wide legged trousers to center stage with this casual but sporty look while attending Sir Lucian Grainges' 2018 Artists Showcase supported by Citi and Remy Martin. Stars like Alessia Cara, Childish Gambino, Little Big Town, and The National went onstage to collect their trophies. Unstated and probably underrated by most, it was the best. Specifically, download sales of Louis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's hit "Despacito" increased 263 percent (as if it wasn't a big enough hit already).

She walked away with her ninth such award on Sunday night for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration, on "Loyalty" with Kendrick Lamar. But the singing just wasn't that great.

Rihanna, DJ Khaled, Bryson Tiller went wild for their song "Wild Thoughts".

After a performance of "Tears in Heaven" by Maren Morris, Brothers Osborne and Eric Church was another standout performance, this one by Kesha.

Gary Clark Jr. and Jon Batiste tribute to Fats Domino and Chuck Berry with "Ain't That a Shame" and "Maybelline": Too short.

We'll update with more Grammy ratings as we hear more. Mars's "24K Magic" picked up Record of the Year and then Chris Stapleton and the ageless Emmylou Harris performed a cover of Tom Petty's "Wildflowers", providing the soundtrack to the show's in memoriam segment.

SZA, "Broken Clocks": Not bad. The show itself began with Lamar giving a politically charged performance - a "satire" as he called - in front of an American flag and with men dressed in military uniform. Emmy and Golden Globe victor Childish Gambino, who picked up best traditional R & B performance, gave a smooth and sultry performance of "Terrified" in all-white featuring screeching high notes.

The Bodak Yellow rapper took to social media today to share with her followers a brand new portrait with Bruno Mars. When did U2 become so lightweight? Janelle Monae gave a heartfelt speech in solidarity with female artistes as she introduced Kesha's comeback performance, while Elton John played the piano which had a white rose on the top, as he performed "Tiny Dancer" with Miley Cyrus in support.

There were numerous nods to the East Coast location of New York City at this year's ceremony.
