Rob Gronkowski returned to New England Patriots practice on Saturday, but reports suggest that he is yet to clear concussion protocol after taking a hit to the helmet in the AFC Championship game.

Gronkowski suffered a concussion in the first half [VIDEO]and was ruled out of the game in the second half.

For more on Gronkowski, check out the "NESN Sports Today" video above, presented by People's United Bank. "Obviously it hurts when he's not out there for a lot of reasons". In addition to his toughness, Brady said Gronkowski's outstanding and positive personality rubs off on his teammates in a great way. "But he's doing the best he can do and we're all hopeful". Gilmore missed three weeks with a "concussion", but an ankle injury was also listed on the injury report.

Gronkowski played just eight games last season and missed the Patriots' entire playoff run after undergoing season-ending back surgery. Maybe it explains why Brady seemed to be open to discussing distractions initially when a reporter brought up distractions before the Super Bowl. Now, it's all about cementing Brady as the player with the most Super Bowl wins in National Football League history. "Being a part of a couple of these losses, those are pretty tough to swallow, but I think you realize how much effort you have to put in to prepare".
