According to the entertainment site, "his body was found near a riverbed in Sunland ... the area where he lived".

Salling, 35, was awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography involving a pre-pubescent minor.

In May 2016, he was charged in a federal indictment with receiving and possessing child pornography on his laptop computer and a flash memory drive, the Justice Department in Los Angeles announced. TMZ reports he was expected to receive a four to seven year prison sentence as a result of his plea deal.

Salling was ordered to pay US$50,000 to each affected child featured in the photos, and also agreed not to have any communication with any person under the age of 18 unless their legal guardian is present.

His trial began on September 12, 2017, and on September 30, he pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography, subsequently registering as a sex offender and entering a treatment program.

He was best known for playing the character Noah "Puck" Puckerman on the popular USA high school musical drama Glee, but also had roles in Children of the Corn IV: The Gathering (1996) and The Graveyard (2006).

The actor was supposed to be sentenced on March 7 for the crime.

I can confirm that Mark Salling passed away early this morning.

Salling had appeared he almost 100 episodes of "Glee" between 2009 and 2015.

He's the second of Glee's male leads to die young.

Cory Monteith, who played Finn Hudson on the show, was found dead in a Canadian hotel room on July 13, 2013.

We'll update this post with more information when it becomes available.
