Musk himself even stated that the flamethrower was not a good idea and were it up to him, he would not buy one, though he also bundled a $30 fire extinguisher with the flamethrower.

The caps soon sold out and true to his word, Mr Musk is now taking pre-orders for the flamethrower, which can be purchased through Paypal, a digital payment company Mr Musk co-founded.

When Elon Musk announced that he was fed up with Los Angeles traffic and planned to start a tunnel digging company-named The Boring Company-in order to bypass it, people assumed he was joking. At the time, he made what was thought to be a joke; now it appears to be very real. Such an item is legal since the jet of flame it can project is shorter than 10 feet.

Musk has tweeted that his flamethrower complies with standards set by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Our design is max fun for least danger.

Musk replied "sure", which means his flamethrower will definitely included in-game, and it will probably be even one of the novelty weapons in the upcoming shooter.

"I love that vehicle, but the trouble is Elon Musk is portrayed in a lot of movies with a lack of faith and trust", Wozniak said.

"Before shipping, aspiring flamethrower aficionados will be sent a terms and conditions rhyme for review and acceptance".

It remains unclear how well The Boring Company will live up to its stated goal of eliminating "soul-destroying traffic", but if it does fail, it could always make its fortune selling ever-more weird merchandise.

A Californian lawmaker isn't amused, though.

However, California seems to be the odd state out and wants to block the possession and sale of the flamethrower. "I can not even begin to imagine the problems a flamethrower would cause firefighters and police officers alike", said Santiago in a statement.
