With the National Football League draft around the corner, Mayfield is in Mobile, Alabama, this week for the Senior Bowl, putting himself on display for teams. "I think seeing where all of that falls - first thing's first", Elway said. The annual event brings NFL personnel from all over the country to one spot for evaluations ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft. I throw the ball down the field probably if not the best, one of the best in the country. He throws with good anticipation.

His arrival at the Senior Bowl came a bit late but quarterback Baker Mayfield insists his tardiness to Mobile was all family and nothing more than a "Family matter". "I'm there to play football", he said. I'll do whatever it takes to win.

Overall, the Senior Bowl practices mean more to the scouts and coaches than the game.

"Like most positions, you want to see guys operate in the meeting room, how they engage with their teammates and, obviously, the football part - the arm talent, how they move in the pocket and those things, " Broncos coach Vance Joseph said. Both play for the South team. This event has consistently helped players from lesser programs get noticed, leading to their being singled out for plucking in the draft, likely higher than they would've been had they not attended. Pre-draft, we get 30 visits with different players. Even though they've barely won at all in years, the biggest piece missing remains the quarterback, after all.

East Lakes Mason Cole was a tackle for his first two years at MI but spent the past two at center, where hes lining up for the North team this week and likely to play in the NFL.

Gallup, who had already gained some national recognition for being a Biletnikoff Award finalist, is really turning heads this week at the Senior Bowl.

I like Mayfield better than Josh Allen and Sam Darnold because he's a gamer and he reminds me of a poor man's Aaron Rodgers, but I don't think you should take a risk on him at No. 1 with Rosen available.

One small-school prospect who had stood out, Fort Hays (Kan.) State DT Nathan Shepherd, broke one of his hands in Wednesdays practice. And he made a flawless throw to what Raiders coach Jon Gruden calls the "turkey hole", 20 yards down the sideline between the safety and corner, to Penn State tight end Mike Gesicki. Florida has CB Duke Dawson and P Johnny Townsend in Mobile. Samuels, who had 78 rushes for 407 yards (5.2 yards per carry) with 12 touchdowns on the ground and 75 receptions for 593 yards and four scores through the air in 2017 for the Wolf Pack, is definitely an interesting prospect coming into this draft.
