There was a report of the addition of video call switch feature a few days ago and now a report from Android Police has unearthed new notification controls in a beta version of the app, which will enhance the "WhatsApp experience" for Android Oreo users. A part of its WhatsApp for Business initiative that was first back in September a year ago and tested with businesses like BookMyShow and MakeMyTrip in India since, the new app for SMEs is now via Google Play in Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, the United Kingdom, and the US. These tools include the ability to set up automated greeting and away messages, as well as to define quick replies for common requests.
The company could also expand the service to bigger businesses and bring on board the likes of Netflix, BookMyShow, MakeMyTrip, etc - all companies that have struck partnerships with WhatsApp to communicate with their users through the platform instead of text messages. In time, businesses will get Confirmed Accounts once they confirm that their business phone number matches the phone number used for the account.
WhatsApp Business can be downloaded through the Google Play Store in the U.S., U.K., Mexico, Italy and Indonesia.
The Business app will later be joined by an enterprise solution aimed at large businesses with a global customer base - like airlines, e-commerce sites, and banks, WhatsApp had said last fall. The exact release date for WhatsApp Business for iOS platform is yet to announce by the giant. Essentially, it's the WhatsApp version of a Facebook Page. With more than 1.3bn users, it's larger than Instagram, which Facebook has developed into one of the most popular social platforms for marketers. Pretty much every smartphone user uses WhatsApp to communicate with their loved ones. The giant will soon make this app available to more countries.
Furthermore, Small Business who want to start using this service will have to confirm their details first. WhatsApp users are also incredibly engaged, sending more than 55bn messages each day. Once you install this app to an Android device, it will guide you setup your own Business, all you have to do is just follow all the instructions given there during the setup process and you will be good to go with it. Instead, they'll be able to use a WhatsApp Business web application, making it possible for them to manage their WhatsApp presence from the desktop.
We do not know when that feature will be available yet. Stay tuned with us for more such useful updates.
