The judge did not hold back on Nassar, who has already pleaded guilty to molesting seven women but has to listen to more than 100 alleged victims' statements during the lengthy sentencing hearing.

Raisman, a six-time Olympic medalist who went public with her story in November after speaking to FBI investigators after last year's Rio Games, spoke directly to Nassar.

"They say now they applaud those who have spoken out but it's easy to say that now when the courageous women who started speaking out back then, who said they knew about Nassar, were dismissed", she said. The Michigan Attorney General's Office has requested Nassar spend between 40 and 125 years in prison. He was sacked in September 2016 after complaints poured in. USA Gymnastics canceled a team camp scheduled for later this month. He also worked for Indianapolis-based USA Gymnastics, which trains Olympians.

Nassar began treating Raisman when she was 15.

Wieber, now 22, said she started seeing Nassar at age 8 and that he brought her food and coffee at the Karolyi Ranch, the training center for the USA national team run by Bela and Martha Karolyi, in order to groom her.

Raisman made sure to deliver part of her statement directly to Nassar in the courtroom.

That should be her legacy. "I am no longer that little girl you met in Australia who you first began grooming and manipulating". "I can not adequately capture the level of disgust I feel when I think about how this happened".

A couple of times this week, Aquilina has told accusers, "I don't deserve thanks". Please believe me when I say that it was a lot harder to first speak those words out loud than it is now to put them on paper.

And that's why this was so important for Aquilina to do this, to allow them all to speak - young teenagers flanked by parents, adults finally getting the chance to address their childhood demons, sisters bonded by unbearable pain. As he awaits sentencing, many of his victims have been describing in court how his actions ruined their lives.

Simone Biles, a member of the 2016 Rio team, also came forward to reveal she was one of Nasar's victims earlier this week.

"I told Michigan State", Boyce said.

Raisman slammed the groups who she said had failed to protect her and others who endured Nassar's abuse.

On Thursday, USA Gymnastics cut ties with the Karolyi Ranch, the women's gymnastics training facility where gymnasts said abuse went unchecked. "She choose you over me".

"This is a case of gymnasts and dancers and figure skaters, not football players or basketball players". I apologized for the misunderstanding and said it was all my fault. But did they reach out when I came forward? The system was a hybrid of the siloed US coaching structure and the centralized eastern European strategy that seemed to produce consistent results. Al Franken have dominated the conversation.

Raisman made her remarks later in the day and delivered what was without question the most powerful speech of the week. At least it shouldn't.

Nassar was employed full time as an osteopathic physician at Michigan State during his time as national medical coordinator for Team USA.

She told the young woman that despite her wish to play down her fame, what she did in court on Friday would inspire countless other young girls and women.
