Stoke managerial target Quique Sanchez Flores has committed his future to Espanyol amid heavy speculation that he is to be the next Stoke manager.

Gary Rowett was perceived to be the favourite before he signed a contract extension with Derby County leaving O'Neill and former Watford manager Sanchez Flores in the frame.

"The fact is that I am here".

Sanchez Flores is expected to fly to England this weekend and complete the formalities that will see his salary vastly increase even before performance-related bonuses, while Stoke have had a delegation in Barcelona for the last few days in order to convince him to take the post.

O'Neill emerged as a contender for the Stoke job after they sacked Mark Hughes earlier this month following a shock FA Cup defeat to League Two Coventry.

"These are situations that happen and they can not be avoided", he continued.

It now seems like the Republic and Northern Ireland are set to be on the lookout for new managers.

"It happened three weeks ago with Gerard Moreno, but we have to think that we are happy with Espanyol". Keane will nearly certainly join O'Neill at the Bet365 Stadium if Stoke can agree terms with them.

"I live in a big city, in one of the best leagues, and I have reason to be happy and not to live anxious".

Mancini, who is now in charge of Russain side Zenit St Petersburg, wants to fulfil his "dream" of managing the Italian national team.
