In a tragic incident, a boat with 40 school children on board capsized around 2 nautical miles from the sea-shore at Dahanu Parnaka Beach, Maharashtra. Even a message from coast guard said that they have diverted ships which were at sea and also ships which were sailing from Mumbai.

The bodies of Sonal Bhagwan Surati and Janhavi Harish Surati, both 17, have been recovered.

Three girls drowned on Saturday and five were feared missing after the private boat carrying almost 40 students capsized off the coast of Dahanu, police earlier said. Palghar police is yet to officially confirm any deaths.

Surrounding fishermen and residents of Dahanu joined in the rescue efforts after seeing the boat start to tilt.

Late in the evening, Singe told reporters that the police were probing the accident. Also, the search operation is still underway to find out remaining students.

The Coast Guard officials reached out to over 35 students in mid-sea, in Palghar, on Saturday where they were stranded in the water after the boat - "Dahanu Queen" - in which they were travelling capsized.

The commandant said the CG was now focussing its attention on the rescue operation to trace the missing crew members of the Pawan Hans helicopter, which had crashed off the Mumbai coast yesterday.

The boat is owned by Parth Ambire and Mahendra Ambire, who are being booked on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder for the tragedy.
