Oregon State had a 22-21 lead at halftime. The Wildcats rank 14th in offensive efficiency, while the Beavers are 138th in defensive efficiency.

The Beavers have won only once at McKale Center since the teams started playing each other in 1975-76 and became Pac-10 competitors three seasons later, with the lone win against Sean Miller's first Arizona team in 2009-10.

Allonzo Trier led the Wildcats in scoring with 21 points on 6-for-12 field-goal shooting and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line, while Ayton's double-double tied the UA freshman record for most double-doubles. The Wildcats are hoping to get there this season. In 35 minutes, Justice added 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 4 threes with 2 turnovers.

The Beavers feature a sneaky-good trio of sophomore Tres Tinkle (son of OSU Coach Wayne Tinkle) and juniors Stephen Thompson Jr. and Drew Eubanks-who average 18.3, 16.5 and 13.8 points per game this season. Here's what we saw.

Ayton and OSU freshman Alfred Hollins played together one season at Hillcrest Prep in Phoenix, Arizona.

Senior guard Parker Jackson-Cartwright has a conference-best 3.3 assist-to-turnover ratio and is second in 3-point percentage at 47.8.

Ayton is also the leading scorer on the year for Arizona with 20.4 PPG and 11.6 RPG.

Since their 12-0 start, ASU has gone 1-3 and failed to find the rhythm that propelled them into the national spotlight.

"Three or four seconds they got a shot up, make or miss they're back on the glass".

Arizona finally got the lead with six straight points, including a breakaway dunk by Trier and a spinning reverse dunk by Alkins, both baskets off turnovers, and the Wildcats led with 16:30 to play.

"I probably have some responsibility for that because I just didn't quite maybe manage possessions better with the lead and try and go a little bit longer with a possession and move the ball a little bit more", head coach Bobby Hurley said after the game.

Arizona (12-4, 3-1 Pac-12) opened its mountain swing last weekend with a solid win over Utah, but followed that up with an 80-77 loss at Colorado.

Oregon State finished the 2017 season ranked third after advancing to the College World Series, where the Beavers were one of four teams remaining.

TCU (No. 3), Texas Tech and Florida State immediately follow Oregon State to finish out the top 5 by Perfect Game. He did some running and participated in limited half-court drills earlier this week but has yet to be cleared as a full-court participant.
