Nitish Kumar's convoy attacked by villagers, two security men injured

Upset over lack of development, a group of villagers on Friday stoned Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's convoy in Buxar district, injuring almost a dozen security personnel, an official said. Kumar inaugurated and laid the stones of schemes worth Rs 168 crores at Nandan panchayat in Buxar district and another 63 schemes worth Rs 228 crore at Ahinaura village in Kamur district on Friday.

The chief minister's convoy came under attack attacked in the Nandar village of Buxar district when Kumar was returning after attending a meeting during his Vikas Smaiksha Yatra.

But the Chief Minister ignored the plea, angering the villagers who attacked his convoy.

While Kumar escaped the attack, at least of two securitymen sustained injuries in stone pelting by some of the villagers.

The official added, "The window panes and windscreens of several vehicles were broken, interrupting the motorcade for a few minutes".

Ironically, Kumar was visiting to village to assess the development in the area.

Earlier, Nitish Kumar was shown black flags and he had to pass through anti-party slogans during his last public meetings.

"My job is not to run the government from the state capital".

The Chief Minister urged all to make his January 21 human chain against dowry and child marriage successful. He added that his governments' work for the state's development has been a hurdle for the people with selfish interests.
