WWE Superstar John Cena is returning to host the 2018 NickelodeonKids' Choice Awards and is working with the network on two additional projects, including a brand-new competition series titled Keep It Spotless. Cena hosted the event in 2017, and the return signals his commitment to children, who remain Cena's largest and most loyal fan base.
On the other hand, and continuing the agreements with Nickelodeon, John Cena will play Baron Draxum, a recurring villain in Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, an animated series about the Ninja Turtles that will be released during this year.
"John Cena is one of the biggest stars in the world", said Cyma Zarghami, the president of Nickelodeon Group. "We like to make kids laugh and we like kids to have fun".
The Kids' Choice Awards telecast is scheduled to air live on Nickelodeon March 24 at 8 p.m.
No word on whether Cena will be shown in front of the camera on his gameshow.
"Nickelodeon and I, we share the same looking glass", said Cena.
Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles will be Nickelodeon's second TMNT animated series, with 2012's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ending after five seasons. "And to top it all off, I'm stepping behind the camera to executive produce Nick's new competition series Keep It Spotless, which gives a whole new meaning to staying clean".
Draxum will be debuting in the show's first episode.
Cena's Turtles character, Baron Draxum, is described as "an alchemist warrior mutant who seeks to turn all of humanity into mutants".
In addition to joining Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cena is expanding his partnership with Nickelodeon. The winning team will face The Gauntlet, a multiple-challenge obstacle course where they can turn their cleanliness into cash.
