When community members march from the Warren County Justice Center to State Street Baptist Church on Monday, they'll remember the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr.

"Through his life and work, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. made America more just and free", said presidential spokesman Hogan Gidley. Line up begins at 9 a.m.

Invited guest speaker, Mayor Levar M. Stoney, will provide the keynote address. Games run from 1 p.m.to 10 p.m. Tickets are $10.

A highlight of the program will be the naming of the recipient of the 2018 Spirit of Dr. King Community Service Award.

The annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Observance program and candlelight vigil including student speeches on how Dr. King has personally affected their live.

The event was slated for Monday, Jan, 15, and was to be held in Decker College Center's Forum at McDaniel College. The play will be at 2 p.m. January 15 in Daggy Hall. According to UBS, the winter holiday season is the slowest time of the year for blood donations.

He said he expects more people this year because more opportunities are available. Blood donors will receive a voucher for a free pizza slice and soft drink, donated by Fratelli Pizza.

The Dream Day Foundation, with McDonald's of Auburn, Opelika and Tuskegee is hosting a Martin Luther King, Jr. "Tying it all together makes it more meaningful". Numerous projects will take place Monday. Fees will still apply for tours at Kartchner Caverns State Park, tours, camping, special events, and concessions.
