Cabello told The New York Times that things started to fall apart as far back as 2015, when she collaborated with Shawn Mendes on their hit song "I Know What You Did Last Summer". They said Camila blindsided them with her decision to quit, while Camila insisted the girls knew how she was feeling for a long time. When she expressed that she wanted to stay in the group while working on a solo album, she claims the other members shut her out instead.

Even though Cabello is just starting her solo career, she already has fans in important places. Tension intensified when Cabello expressed interest in writing lyrics for future Fifth Harmony tracks and was shot down. "I feel like the best way to come up with something new and different is just to be the you-est you possible", she said.

In December 2016, Fifth Harmony issued a statement announcing Cabello's departure, saying that she had suddenly and unexpectedly left the band. I was just like, 'What? "I don't like holding onto the past, especially when it's stuff that, in my opinion, is just petty".

Camila is celebrating her release day with a YouTube livestream Q&A at 3pm ET / 1:30am IST (13th Jan) where in Camila will be soliciting for questions online to give fans a chance to get their questions answered using #ThisIsCAMILA.
