Glenn Maxwell, who was rumoured to be in the running despite being left out of the initial squad, was overlooked once again.

White, who last appeared for the Aussies in a one-day global against England in Hobart on January 23, 2015, has been summoned as a replacement for the injured Chris Lynn.

That, however, has proved not to be the case, the selectors instead opting for Cameron White.

White has a long global career since debuting in 2005 having played four Tests, 88 ODIs and 47 Twenty20 Internationals but recently expressed doubt over his worldwide prospects. Batting at first drop, White is the tournament's second-leading run-scorer, behind only D'Arcy Short, with 285 runs from six matches at the absurd average of 142.5.

White hasn't played a one-dayer for Australia since 2015, but has been in excellent form for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash.

However White's form in the BBL for the Melbourne Renegades has seen him rewarded with a one day call up.

"Cameron's in very good form, as his figures demonstrate".

'He ticks all the boxes for what we need at this stage'.

If he does get a chance to pull on the Aussie kit for an 89th time in ODIs - to go with 47 T20I run-outs and four Test appearances - White thinks his experience in the game will make up for being out of the elite level for three years.

Maxwell has denied suggestions of a rift with Smith and intends to catch up the Australia captain with to address the comments he made. You'd have to ask the selectors, I couldn't tell you.

"I'll listen to him and do my best to get on his right side and do everything I can to play for Australia".
