Perhaps the biggest debate when it comes to Team of the Season votes is who won the majority when it comes to Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

European football's governing body's official website announced the group, assembled in a fantasy Team of the Year, drawing on 8.8 million votes from fans worldwide.

Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard are the only two Premier League players in the 2017 UEFA Team of the Year with Harry Kane and Neymar missing out.

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo featured in 70% of teams and teammate Sergio Ramos was the most popular pick, appearing in 73.3% of sides.

Interestingly, Ronaldo was the only player to make it to the team from the top 10 most expensive players of all time.

Chelsea and Manchester City are the two English clubs represented but it is European champions Real Madrid who unsurprisingly dominate the selection.

The team also included three players from the Juventus team who lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

Marcelo, Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric join Ronaldo in the team, while Messi is the only Barcelona player to feature.
