- CNN political commentator Van Jones said Monday that if Oprah Winfrey ran for president she "would destroy anything in front of her".

But it was her exhortation of the legions of women who have called out sexual harassers - and her dream of a day "when nobody has to say "me too" again" - that got some political operatives, in early voting states such as Iowa and New Hampshire, thinking Winfrey might be just what the Democrats need.

"I've interviewed and portrayed people who've withstood some of the ugliest things life can throw at you, but the one quality all of them seem to share is an ability to maintain hope for a brighter morning, even during our darkest nights", she said.

Jones said that in her speech, Winfrey did in nine minutes what Barack Obama did in 17 minutes in 2004, telling her story in a way that was "electrifying".

Still, while some Democrats would embrace Winfrey's outsider-celebrity status as the party's answer to Trump, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., noted that Winfrey, like Trump, lacks any kind of experience in government.

She closed her speech with a call for unity, "I want all the girls watching to know a new day is on the horizon". She had me and my family. "Absolutely. But in terms of where she stands on a number of positions, I would find a number of problems with that", Sanders said.

"In 2011, I told some jokes about our current President at the White House Correspondents Dinner, jokes about how he was unqualified to be President", he said. His point was that his jokes about Donald Trump's unsuitability at the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in 2011 have sometimes been identified as the moment the current U.S. President chose to run.

"I don't, I don't", she reportedly said backstage at the Globes when asked if she planned to run.

It is not clear whether politics ingenue and non-candidate Winfrey has what could be framed in election terms as policies. "Plenty of people love Oprah and it won't take very many of them to make her a force in a Democratic nomination fight".

Asked whether she'd win in a race against Trump, she said she didn't know, but that doesn't matter.

The president acknowledged the speculation Tuesday, responding to a question about whether he could beat Winfrey during a bipartisan meeting with senators at the White House. "It was very nice", he said.

The recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award mentioned Taylor during her powerful acceptance speech at the Golden Globes Sunday - But who is she?

King, a CBS host, says that Winfrey is "intrigued by the idea" of a presidential bid in 2020, but that after a long conversation with her friend the night before, she doesn't see it happening. "She's popular, she's brilliant, she's a wonderful woman".
