Host Ryan Seacrest said that the reboot will be different because of the three new judges, Kate Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. "No, they are not helping me at all!"

One thing Idol was known for was its mocking of bad singers during the early audition rounds, an aspect famously rebuked by NBC's The Voice when it premiered in 2011 and ultimately stole Idol's thunder.

We can't wait to watch Katy show off that rebellious authenticity she prides herself on when American Idol premieres on ABC on March 11!

The panel thinks now is the right time for an "American Idol" revival because of how fractured the entertainment landscape is.

"I get to be a part of a team and not just judge [the singers] and just say stuff, I get to actually be involved with them and cultivate their career and where they want to go and help them navigate this competition", Kelly said. "The show at its core works in format and works in premise". "These days you have to light yourself on fire on Instagram while singing and still might not get enough hits", Perry said.

After a Season 9 stint as a guest judge, Perry has her first permanent seat on the Idol panel, and she says she's focused on "finding an actual Idol, making that good old American dream come to life once again... we need those attractive stories right now to help lift us up".

Katy Perry describes American Idol using Trader Joe's chicken nuggets " The biggest gift for me personally is being re-inspired by their raw dreams, their raw ambition, their hope. I was eating Trader Joe's frozen chicken nuggets every day of the week. "You know, when you're single, you got a lot of time to yourself and a lot of energy, and I'm just finding a delicate balance". "That's what American Idol is".

Katy Perry, 33, wants everyone watching her on American Idol to remember that she is just a human.

As the OG Idol alum, Seacrest said that it was important for the show to find three capable judges who would "give the franchise what it deserves because the legacy of this franchise is important to the fans, it's important to us [since] we've worked on it for a long time".

No one even tried.
