Meunier told deputies that after his dog ran inside, a bear attacked him, swiping at him with its paw.

He added: 'Truthfully, I'm not sure how I got out alive. It was just as scary as you can imagine'.

"That's run through my head, what if it was terrible and she came downstairs wondering where I was and there I was laying...yeah it's scary", said Meunier.

His dog ran back inside scared, Meunier told Collier County Sheriff's Department.

The bears reportedly stand about 5 feet tall.

The attack left an 8-inch gash across his forehead and down his right cheek that required 41 stitches, according to WINK.

Meunier had to be taken to the hospital for treatment after he suffered several cuts across his head and stomach. "It could've been a totally different story".

The bears are not harmed by these traps.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission is now attempting to capture the bear that attacked Meunier as well as any other bears in the area, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The 'inter-actions' have ranged from complaints of bears rummaging through trash to bears being spotted in back yards.

Andrew Meunier can thank a black bear for taking a chunk of skin out of face as he was walking near his apartment Wednesday night.

Offered Parrish, "We're going to keep trying to remove that bear".

Andree Meunier was attacked by a bear outside his Naples apartment.

"I've seen them before, just never 2 feet away, swinging at me", he said.

"Any bear to me is big, but have to say this one here is probably between 250 to 300 pounds", Amerine said. 'And like I said, she's had three cubs around with her'.
